Preparing to Meet with a Lawyer

PREPARING TO MEET WITH A LAWYER

It can be a big waste for both the client and lawyer if the client is unprepared for their first meeting. Being unprepared may also lead to the client losing out lot of money because it will take a lot of time for the lawyer hired by the client to actually understand the legal matter speed on the work on it.

The lawyer should know the client and as well should know how to contact the client and hence, the home address, work address, phone number, mail id and other details become very important. The chronological summary of the facts for the client to meet the lawyer is very important. Some of the facts may include the names of the key people involved in the dispute, the date and type of dispute and some important facts about the dispute with the current status of the dispute.

In case of disputes the date and place where the dispute took place is very important. These factual data must be as accurate as possible. May be the user could set a remainder of events or jot it down elsewhere so the perfect data is recorded which can later be used for reference. Documents need to be gathered and some of the documents might be contracts, the correspondence emails, photos, reports related to dispute, witness statements, materials such as handbook and these documents need to sorted in a logical manner.

Questions have to be prepared by the client to be posed to the lawyer through which the primary goal of the user is achieved. The client just needs to make sure the questions posed are short and gives the entire meaning to the lawyer.
